"Stewart Erb (NP) Stewart has been part of the Taranaki Rugby Supporters Club for the past 25 years. He retired as president at the AGM in April 2012 after 21 years at the helm but has remained as the go-to person for the club.

Stewart has been one of the longest-serving members of the executive of the New Zealand Rugby Supporters Club. This is an organisation that joins together all rugby supporters clubs in the country. Stewart’s contribution – which has included chairmanship and trusteeship – has ensured the survival of the national body.

In addition to all things presidents normally do, Stewart’s 25 years leading the Taranaki club has been during a time of drastic change. With the development of Rugby Park to Yarrow Stadium in 2001, Stewart worked to ensure the club retained space within the new facility then went about refitting the modern rooms that exist today.

The club has a number of purposes, from supporting the Tenderlink Taranaki side to drawing together all Taranaki supporters – something that Stewart is a strong driving force behind.

As a tourism operator, Stewart has become involved in the last six years as the Taranaki person on the Taranaki-Wanganui Coach and Bus Association. He has also volunteered his time and supported buses for the Great New Zealand Challenge.

Stewart is the man who thinks outside the square when it comes to promoting Taranaki. His support for ‘all things Taranaki’ is not driven by benefit to his business so much as his absolute passion for this place."
